Hello, my name is Peter Walsh, and I’m a magazine addict.
I’ve been involved in the consumer magazine industry for over 33 years. I am the principal of Walsh Media Solutions, where I serve the growing category of niche magazines that are dominating the industry today. I have a strong team of professionals and partners that all bring their passion for magazines to the table for every one of our clients.
I began working for Hearst Publications in 1981 in circulation, and worked on titles such as Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping and Sports Afield. Later, I worked for Penthouse Magazine and helped Bob Guccione, Jr. launch Spin Magazine to compete with Rolling Stone. After that, in the late 1980s, I worked for Times Mirror, and was the driving force behind cross-merchandising programs to display hunting and fishing titles such as Outdoor Life and Field & Stream in the outdoor sports departments at Wal-Mart Stores and Kmart. In the 1990s, I helped Sendai Publishing grow its newsstand sales of Electronic Gaming Monthly, the leading video game magazine. In the Summer of 1995, I helped Sendai launch no less than 7 new titles between Memorial Day and Labor Day. And these new-title launches all came off without a hitch.
